Yes, I Want To Know Jesus!

I'm so glad you're here! I recognise that not everyone understands why Jesus is relevant and why knowing Him is the most important thing any human being can do. So, let's cover this and get you going.

1. God Has A Plan For You!

Have you ever heard God that God has a plan for your life? It's a good plan because God is good and wants you to have the life He offers. You might be looking at your life and asking why you've not been experiencing much good let alone God's good plan for you. It's because...

2. Humanity Has A Problem

God created human beings to have a good, loving relationship with Him and with one another. Guess what? God made us like Himself, yes, the same characteristics. We were meant to live and look after this earth in the way way God would. We were godly.

God gave Adam (the first man) just one commandment to obey - don't eat the fruit of the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. God warned Adam that if he did eat, he would die the same day. Sadly the devil came along and lied to Eve (the first woman). The devil lied and said that they wouldn't die but, instead, that they would be like God if they ate the forbidden fruit. The thing is, they were already like God! They decided to do what the devil said instead of what God said. They disobeyed God and this is called "sin". They ate the forbidden fruit.

When they did this, the connection with God was broken and this was the immediate death God warned about. Separation from God is spiritual death. Eventually, physical death also took place. All humanity was plunged into this state of sin, spiritual death, separation from God. We now had a new lord and master - the devil. This new master does not like humans at all. Why? Simply because God does love us so much and made us like Himself.

The Bible says "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23. Yes, that means everyone, including you.

That is humanity's problem: sin. That is why life can be hard, crushing and painful.

God is holy but, because of sin, we don't measure up to His perfect standard. The Bible says "The wages of sin is death...". Yes, that spiritual separation from God. So, if everyone has sinned and the wages of sin is death, what do you deserve? Obviously, the answer is "death". However...

3. God Has The Remedy For Humanity's Problem!

The remedy is what Jesus did for every human being: dying on the cross! Jesus willingly sacrificed His life for you, for me, for all humanity. He was buried and then rose from the dead three days later. Jesus dies so every human being could go free! That is the Gospel, the good news. So...

4. What Is YOUR Response?

Although God's remedy is available to everyone, it's not automatic. Each person needs to make the right response to accept that remedy.

Make no mistake, everyone is making a response to God's remedy one way or another. The options are to either accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour or to reject Him. Everyone is doing one or the other even if someone thinks or says they are neutral.

Sadly, if you don't make the decision to accept Jesus you are choosing to remain in sin, guilty and deserving of death. Romans 6.23 does say "The wages of sin is death" and goes on to say "but the gift of God is eternal life."

Eternal life is not just living forever. It's knowing God and knowing Jesus. (John 17:3)

So, you literally get to choose:

  • "life" or "death"

  • to respond "for" Jesus or "against" Him in your lifetime

  • to live a "self-motivated life" (in sin) or a "Christ-motivated life" (living for Jesus)

Looking at your own life, which life have you been living so far? Which life would you like to live?

How To Make The Right Response

There are four steps to making the right response:

I) Believe The Gospel

Believe that Jesus died for your sins, that He was buried and that He rose from the dead three days later (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

II) Repent Of Your Sins

Repenting means you decide to turn from sin and turn to Jesus, living for Him (Acts 2:38)

III) Make A Verbal Declaration That "Jesus Is Lord"

This is about accepting and making Jesus your Lord and Saviour. It means accepting Jesus as the authority in your life. (Romans 10:9)

IV) Believe In Your Heart That God raised Jesus From The Dead

This is not about a mental agreement that doesn't affect you. It's about a sincere acceptance of what took place. God rose Jesus from the dead. (Romans 10:9).

Do you believe the above? Are you willing to repent and make Jesus your Lord? The following simple prayer can help you to pray and let God know that. You can also use your own words instead.

Prayer of Decision

"Heavenly Father, thank You. Yes, I believe Jesus died for my sins, was buried and rose again three days later. I repent. I turn from sin, living own my own way and now turn to You instead. I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Help me to live the Christ-centred life that pleases You in Jesus' Name. Amen."

Congratulations if you prayed that prayer! It's the GREATEST change that could ever take place in your life!!
